Presented by Event Gallery. Celebrating a beautiful union of fashion, flora, design, environmental awareness and philanthropy, the Royal Botanic Runway transformed the majestic Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne into an international runway event and a truly unforgettable summer experience.
Premiering on Thursday, 30 January 2014, the inaugural runway event featured world-renowned Australian designers: Akira Isogawa, Aurelio Costarella, Collette Dinnigan and Martin Grant, who have each produced stunning pieces to be worn by over sixty local and international models. Created to raise funds for the final stage of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne Water Strategy Project, the magical landscape of ‘Guilfoyle’s Volcano’ became a spectacular open air runway.
The event included a gala dinner by Shannon Bennett, after party at The Botanical, Moonlight Cinema Screening and live streaming to Federation Square of the outdoor runway which was supported by an online auction through Mossgreen and lunch time Q&A with Tim Entwisle, Kiri Delly, Tim Flannery, David Griggs and hosted by Jamie Durie.
This unique event, founded and produced by Event Gallery, provided an opportunity to experience global fashion up-close whilst ensuring the continued conservation of Melbourne’s much-loved gardens.
We are passionate about our own self-produced events and will continue to push the boundaries and create events for the broader community through The Royal Botanic Runway and Runway Production School. See more at royalbotanicrunway.com
Thrilling. A pinnacle show, a rare fusion of spectacular location, elegant models, beautiful fashion, evocative music and summer heat. Even the light perfume of a thousand flowers carried by the models as they moved gracefully through the gardens added to the intense sensory experience.Janice Breen Burns
